What was the most enjoyable part of our stay? Enjoying breakfast on the terrace in the middle of the natural setting! We love skiing and nature, and we really appreciate these open settings, the blend of wood and stone, the woollen rugs, and the fireside when the temperature drops! The organic jams are delightful, and go down a treat... And the chance to ride bikes which can be hired from the patio is a bonus when you are trying to get away from the city and its exhaust fumes! We will be back next summer, and we will enjoy an aperitif on the patio each evening!
We had the good fortune to be the first guests to stay in the revamped Le Faucigny Hotel - a brilliant little boutique hotel in the heart of Chamonix. Less than 50 metres walk from the centre of Chamonix Town it couldn't be better located. Having stayed in everything from hostels to catered chalets in Chamonix, this place is one we'll return to time and again. Granted they literally opened around us on day 1, and the spa wasn't operational, but the place was clean, uber trendy (with illuminated elk head on the wall of reception and wollen light shades) and so very friendly that nothing could dampen our enjoyment of staying here. Rooms are on the 'cosy' side and our bath was half-sized with no way to stand and shower, but the bed was very comfy and duvet nice and warm. We'll be recommending this place to everyone we know, and will 100% stay here again. Highly recommended.
Arriving in a hotel with the children is never easy. You always feel scared about disturbing the other guests, who have come to get away from things and enjoy some peace and quiet. Just like ourselves really! But the hotel is just like a large house, where you immediately feel at home. I personally love the decor, the warm and natural ambiance, the tiles which you can leave personal messages on, and the books in the library, all of these original details matter a lot. Oh, and there is also the spa, and especially the Jacuzzi, which is always welcome after a day on the slopes. We could enjoy this whilst the kids had fun on the rocking-sheep in the lounge!
This was my first visit to Le Faucigny. I didn’t honestly expect to be able to relax quite as much. In my trade, I am used to staying in luxury accommodation, with all the mod cons, but without a soul and constantly changing staff. Here, it is quite different. When you get back from a day on the slopes, we feel the warm welcome, and the food is a wonderful idea which helps people to get to know each other, often around a fireside chat. After my stay, I knew many of the hotel staff and the friendly faces of the team, after just a week.
